(NEWS) Mahoba-Khajuraho rail service to start from Feb 15 2008

Mahoba, Feb 3: To boost tourism, the Indian Railways is set to commence the much-awaited Mahoba-Khajuraho rail service from February 15.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad would show the green signal to the first passenger train on the new route.

According to railway sources, the track had been laid down up to Dumra station.

While, the remaining work is on the cusp of completion.

At the Mahoba station, platform and ticket booking centres have been constructed.

The rail route would enable easy commutation to the tourists, both national and international, to the place.

Besides, the impoverished region, would get connected to big cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.

The Mahoba-Khajuraho rail project started in 2002 and was targeted to be completed in 2007. But due to some delays in work, the route would be set upon on February 15 this year.

About 11 km track work was still underway, therefore the train would go upto Dumra station till the completion of the work.
