PM releases book penned by UP ex-CM Late Pandit Kamlapati Tripathi


NEW DELHI, September 03: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today released a book titled "Bapu Aur Manavta" penned by late Pandit Kamla Pati Tripathi. Speaking on a function organized by the AICC at the Bal Yogi Auditorium on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of Pandit Kamlapati Tripathi, the PM said in his speech that the eminent freedom fighter and seasoned politician was known to always act in favour of public interest and development. Smt. Sonia Gandhi, UPA chairperson, who also graced the occasion, said that Pt. Kamlapati Tripathi was a mutil-faceted personality, a unique blend of a capable journalist, a sharp parliamentarian, an impressive orator, a serious writer and litterateur and a member of the Constituent Assembly.

Proposing the vote of thanks, Shri Rajesh Pati Tripathi, grandson of Pandit Kamplapati Tripathi said that Pandit Kamlapati, who was also an eminent freedom fighter, was an inspiration and a guiding spirit for all aspiring politicians. He had the exceptional ability to connect with the swiftly changing situations of the modern times, while keeping his traditional commitments intact. This was one main reason which, in his career spanning 70 years in public life, helped him remain in the national mainstream despite the generational changes and periodic pressures.

An author of more than 10 books, Pandit Kamplapati Tripathi parliamentary career lasted for half a century from 1936 to 1987. He became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1971 and from 1975-1980 he was the Union Railway Minister. He was also made the working president of the Congress party in 1983, a post which he retained till 1987. Pt. Kamlapati Tripathi carried the distinctive image of a courteous, dignified and principled politician. He was totally committed and devoted to the rashtra bhasha Hindi.

Pt Kamlapati Tripathi was a principled politician and a symbol of political loyalty; his loyalty and commitment to the congress party remained constant throughout his life. His personality was the balance and blend of religious beliefs and secularism. He was a leader of the masses. He was an iconic leader who was above the ‘cast-politics’. He believed in treating all people alike regardless of their castes or religion which was what was the core ethic and belief of the congress party.

Pt. Kamlapati Tripathi would always be remembered as a true nationalist, a principled leader and a champion of development and people oriented politics.
